Who are we?
Spelthorne Breastfeeding Friends is a Charity that has been established to recruit and train volunteers to provide mum-to-mum support in the Borough of Spelthorne primarily around the feeding of their babies, especially those wanting to breastfeed but also those who are formula feeding. Our aim is to act as a source of up-to-date information about breastfeeding and feeding-related issues and to help mothers to talk through their feeding choices and other parenting and emotional issues.
What are breastfeeding peer supporters?
Breastfeeding peer supporters are volunteer mums who are there to help other mums through their breastfeeding journey. Mums who have had positive breastfeeding experiences can help to motivate, encourage and empower other breastfeeding mums in their community. Peer supporters complete training to enable them to support mums effectively and sensitively.
